This is a more personal posting. This blog began all because of a class assignment. For my Social Media in Public Relations class, we had to start our own blog, accompanied by seven other social media outlets. I was between making a comedy blog and a sports blog highlighting women. Although I love comedy, I knew that I would not have time to create the content necessary for the class. I mean I’m funny, very funny, but I didn’t have the time for that. So, I decided on the sports blog.
We had to plan out 20 blogs. This was easy for me. I have saved countless of tweets, Instagram posts, and YouTube videos that have inspired me. So many that have made me smile and cry at the same time.
On Tuesday I handed in my final project for that class: a binder containing all of the digital content that I created throughout the semester. So big! So many photos and screenshots! So much ink! But it was worth it.
I have learned a lot from this assignment. I have learned how to create a successful brand with consistent colors, content, and images. I was so excited when Allison Schmitt liked my Instagram post. And Alexi Pappas retweeted my tweet about her!! WOW, sports are so cool. They really bring people together.
And so, I would love to continue with this blog. But, I want to do some re-branding . I want my posts to be simpler and follow more current events. Sure, I retweet things that happen daily. I want to write those things daily, maybe not daily, but when I write I want it to be current. And then every once in a while I will do a feature on a bigger movement, commercial, or athlete.
I hope you stay with me on this journey as I continue with my love of sports. I’m just a college athlete showing my love for women’s sports.
